When I was 15 or 16, I remember reading the liner notes of Good Charlotte’s The Young and the Hopeless, where Benji wrote about sitting on the tour bus listening to their own album.

That’s always been my aim — to write music I’d actually listen to. Because at the end of the day, what’s the point of writing and recording songs you wouldn’t want to hear? If no one else listens, at least I’ve made something I love and I’m proud of.

Maybe that sounds pessimistic, maybe not — but I am proud of this album. There are songs I wrote over a decade ago that I’ve revisited, and then there’s Unfinished Business — the last song I wrote for the album, which has the line that gives Rock and Roll Heart its name.

I’ll share more stories about each song over the next few weeks, but for now — this album has been a long time coming, and it’s finally here. I hope you love it as much as I do.
